1. Research the company – Obvious we know but demonstrating you are taking your career search seriously will help get the interview off to a good start, it will also help with any nerves. It’s good to remember whilst you are giving up your time, so is the client, so make the right impression.
2. Read the job description and your CV – With a wealth of experience under your belt, you need to highlight your skills that match to the duties of the role. You may also want to add additional points to your CV, we can always send the interviewer an updated version before your meeting.
3. Prepare your answers – People don’t interview that often, so practising your answers will help demonstrate your suitability to the role and help with the flow of the conversation.
4. Prepare your questions – Have a think about what you are looking for in your next role. This may be obvious to you, but preparing questions will ensure you come out with the information required to make the right decision.
5. Are you interested? – If you feel the job is a good match for what you are looking for, let the interviewer know. It helps to remove any doubt and is a great way to end the meeting.
6. Follow up emails work – After the interview, the interviewer will be discussing your suitability to the role with colleagues, an email thanking them for their time and reaffirming your interest will reflect well on you and encourage quick feedback.
7. Be yourself – It’s not just about your work experience, they also want to get to know you to ensure you are a good team fit. Other points to remember include being on time, have good body language in the interview and dress appropriately.
